As one of Merseyrail’s chosen charities, we were given the opportunity to hold a bucket collection at Aintree Station during the Grand National.
On Saturday 13th April, a team of 17 amazing volunteers collected from 10am – 8pm, ending the day with an incredible £2,175.82 in their buckets.
Speaking about the day, Fundraising Officer, Alex Rigby said: “The atmosphere was incredible, and everyone was so generous and friendly. We’d like to extend our thanks to absolutely everyone who donated or stopped to say hello!
Merseyrail looked after us all so well, and we’re so grateful for all the opportunities we have through our partnership them. It was a proud day to be from this great city!”
The money we’ve raised will help us to provide additional support for the families using our nursery. Many struggle with the cost of living, but through our ‘Rainbow Room,’ they can access food and toiletries whenever they need to, free of charge.
Fundraising also allows us to provide extra hours of childcare for families who might need a bit of extra help due to things like court processes.
Most importantly, this money will go towards enhancing the services we provide for children. We can organise more day trips for them to have fun experiences like any other child their age, and make sure there is lots of nutritious food and snacks in our nursery, as we know they may not always be able to eat much at home.
