Staying safe with Centre 56

We are deeply saddened by the disorder and violence communities across the UK are currently experiencing.

This is especially close to our hearts as a charity that works with children and families that have experienced domestic abuse or crisis situations.

Centre 56 remains dedicated to keeping our service users, staff and volunteers safe. Please find below some information that will help to keep you safe and protect your wellbeing during these tougher times.

Reporting domestic abuse

We understand that the recent events across the country may be making abusive situations worse. Please know that you are not alone, and reports of domestic abuse are taken seriously.

If you are a victim of domestic abuse, or know someone who is, and there’s an emergency that’s ongoing or life is in danger, call 999 as soon as it is safe to do so.

For non-emergency situations you can also call the free National Domestic Abuse Helpline 0808 2000 247 (24/7) for guidance and support.

You can also contact us at Centre 56 for a kind ear and help getting the support you need, 0151 727 1355 (Monday – Friday, 9am – 3pm).

Reporting crime and hate crime

If you are in an emergency situation, contact Merseyside Police by calling 999.

You can also contact the Merseyside Police social media desk via X @MerPolCC or Facebook @Merseyside Police Contact Centre, call 101 or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

If, for any reason, you do not wish to report a hate crime to the police, the independent charity Stop Hate UK runs a 24/7 confidential helpline for all victims of hate crime on 0800 138 1625 or www.stophateuk.org. You can also download the Stop Hate UK reporting app on Google Play, or the Apple App Store.

Looking after your mental health

It is perfectly normal for what has been happening across the UK to have taken a toll on your mental health. Please know that you are not alone if you are feeling low, anxious or overwhelmed.

You can contact your GP Practice to get support with your mental health or if you feel you need more immediate support, please use the below free helplines.
